Weekly Newsletter 05/23 – 05/28


Happy Sunday Funday NoMa Runners!! Hope everyone is having a great start/end (whichever way you prefer to keep your training logs!) to their week!

We had a great turnout this past week for all of our runs and social events! Thank you to everyone who came out last week! We love seeing all of you! If you ever have any suggestions for the club or want to get more involved please email us at nomarunclub@gmail.com!

As we are transitioning into the summer season we want to remind you to please hydrate. We want everyone to have a great time out there but most importantly we want everyone to be safe! Please review our Waiver for more information about Club safety while running.

Another change we’ve made to help beat the summer heat is changing the time of the Saturday Morning Run from 9:00 AM to 8:00 AM. We will also be including a new distance option! For those who do not wish to run the seven miles, we will have a 5K option available.

One addition to the Newsletter that we are going to start adding is Race Results and Personal Achievements. If you’ve recently run a race and want to share your results with the Club email us the results and we will include them in the next Newsletter! Also, if you have reached a personal goal or achievement we would love to hear about it and share it with the group!

Other Information

The T-shirt order form is still open and there is an added color option of white! The order form will close on June 6th so be sure to order soon if you want a club shirt! Orders can be made by visiting CustomInk.

We also have new posters going up!! If you would like to help with putting them up email us and we will send you a copy of the flyer! Also, Liz (our amazing founder) recommends using the Wheat Past Recipe below for hanging up flyers.

Wheat Paste Recipe

~ 1 part flour and 4 parts water ~

Boil water

In a separate bowl, mix flour with a little cold water to dissolve any lumps

Add flour mixture to boiling water

Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the paint-like texture is achieved (about 20 minutes) — paste will thicken somewhat as it cools

Allow to cool to a safe temperature until safe to handle before transferring to container (tupperware, milk carton, etc)

Use within a couple days as it will start to smell if left too long (adding salt may prolong shelf life)

How to put up flyers

Print flyer in either black and white or color

Paint surface with wheat paste, apply flyer, and then paint wheat paste over flyer

Use your judgment regarding where postering is appropriate
